One great thing about living in a large city is that you can always find strange things that others leave behind. I stumbled into my apartment entrance one day to find two old, somewhat ugly lamps, which I took. I fixed them a little bit where the cord had come loose and gave one to my girlfriend. Now I have a fairly awesome lamp in the corner of my room, as does she. It was free!
